Solutions of Question 14 of Exercise 4.2 of Unit 04: Sequence and Series. This is unit of A Textbook of Mathematics for Grade XI is published by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Textbook Board (KPTB or KPTBB) Peshawar, Pakistan.

Insert three arithmetic means between 6 and 41. GOOD

Let A1,A2,A3 be three arithmetic means between 6 and 41. Then 6,A1,A2,A3,41 are in A.P. We have a1=6 and a6=41. Now a5=11a1+4d=416+4d=41d=4164=354. Now A1=a+d=6+354=594=1434, A2=a+2d=6+2354=472=2312 and A3=a+3d=6+3354=1294=3214. Hence three arithmetic means between 6 and 41 are 1434,2312,3214. GOOD

Insert four arithmetic means between 17 and 32. GOOD

Let A1,A2,A3,A4 be four arithmetic means between 17 and 32.
then 17,A1,A2,A3,A4,32 are in A.P, where a1=17 and a6=32. Now a6=a1+5d17+5d=32d=32175=155=3 Now A1=a1+d=17+3=20,A2=a1+2d=17+2(3)=23,A3=a1+3d=17+3(3)=26 and A4=17+4(3)=29. Hence four arithmetic means between 17 and 32 are 20,23,26,29. GOOD
